Unsatisfactory return policy for damaged goods

I bought a pair of Hush puppies shoes in Eastgate. In under two months they started coming apart. I returned them to the shop where they agreed they would take them back as they were defective. As the shoes were defective I am entitled to cancel the contract and obtain a refund. Hush puppies refused to refund the money due to me and would only provide a credit note. In law I am entitled to cancel and obtain a refund which as stated they refused to do.
