Welcome to HostAfrica, where the "Live Chat" is neither live, nor a chat
If you enjoy the thrill of screaming at a ****ing brick wall HostAfrica is the provider for you. This review is the result of their endless ****ing incompetence:
Choose your own misery: Option A: Log a ticket and age gracefully for hours before anyone acknowledges your existence. Alternatively, Option B: Use the 'live chat' and chat to an AI which has been designed to waste your ****ing time before you have to escalate a ticket where you have to wait for hours anyway.
Today I waited 30 minutes on their ****ty "Live Chat" function for a human to grace me with their presence. I was instructed to open 2 support tickets to issue a domain transfer, sounds reasonable right? After I followed the instruction 3 hours later an IT support 'specialist' - and I use the term 'specialist' very ****ing loosely here - responds and tells me to send an email instead and closes my ticket.... So I waited for hours just to be told to use a different communication channel, it doesn't get much better than this. I tried calling but naturally it's "out of hours". Nobody is on the 'live chat' - so then it's not a ****ING LIVE CHAT, is it? It's a ****ing dead end with a text field.
I don’t hate the AI, it can be useful. But slapping AI onto a dysfunctional excuse of a company is like throwing gasoline on an already smoking pile of ****. Figure out how to assist customers before you try to automate the process. At the moment all you've automated is the disappointment.
To the manager reading this (if you exist): Don't bother with the "We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience" copy-paste bull****. It means ****ALL when you ignore the problem. Address the root of the problem: your dog**** support system and the fact that your team closes tickets without solving them.
Before I leave this essay in your hands: you can't escalate your issue to a senior because obviously that button doesn't ****ing exist. I mean if I was a lazy piece of **** that picks my 'specialists' up off the side of the road. I wouldn't want that button either so that I could kick up my feet and watch chaos unfold as my team ignores the work they're incapable of handling too.
We've read your review, and we hear you. The experience you've described, waiting 30 minutes for chat support, being instructed to open tickets, waiting 3+ hours for a response, only to have those tickets closed with instructions to use a different channel entirely, is not acceptable. That's not support; that's a runaround, and your frustration is justified.
- Your account email address or username
- The ticket numbers you opened (if you still have them)
- The domain name you're trying to transfer

I am not typing out this review so you can sweep this into my private inbox and ignore me there too. If HostAfrica had humans with a pulse working there you'd be able to find the ****ing ticket regarding domain transfer that was closed by your 'specialist'.
But since you need me to do your ****ing job for you again:

I want to speak to a human being, not an idiot with a GPT subscription. Reply with your Head of Support's number.
To everyone considering hosting with this company: take note.
