I have just had a terrible experience with HostAfrica. Without any notice, they terminated my dedicated server. When calling to find out why they told me it was targeted in a DDoS attack and they are terminating my server without notice. I have no idea why I would be targeted in this kind of attack, I highly doubt I was, so it's completely beneath me why my service just gets removed and access to my files revoked. After many messages, I was finally able to get my files. It is very unprofessional. They should offer DDoS protection. The last time they had an attack on their datacenter, they powered down my machine which caused data loss. This has been an extremely disappointing experience.

As we have expressed in our other communication, we say this with a heavy heart, we are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience you have suffered as a result of all of this.
We investigated the recent DDOS attacks we suffered and with the help of our upstream provider, were able to determine that the attacks were focused on your server. Due to the scale of the attacks against your server, our other dedicated server customers were subsequently also affected and experienced issues like packet loss and being unable to access their servers. This was the reason for us having to cancel your server on such short notice.
We are now working together with our upstream provider to improve our DDOS mitigation abilities in order to prevent having to do something like this in future.
We hope that you can understand.

There was nothing in HostAfrica's terms and conditions about this. It's very unfair for me to take the fall because you have a weak datacenter and DDoS protection that is nonexistent. All hosting companies have DDoS protection, HostAfrica is the first hosting company I have heard of that does not offer DDoS protection and mitigation. You should make sure that your clients know that, I would hate for others to experience this. This was no fault of mine. I think HostAfrica needs to make some improvements to their datacenter and be more open with their customers.
I completely understand, you have been caught off guard. I hope this experience will help in making improvements to your service and datacenter.
I have moved to a different service provider, they find it quite amusing that you had to kick me because you could not handle the attack, they have also promised me to never kick me because of a DDoS attack and will make sure that I am protected.
From what I have observed, HostAfrica does not have the ability to protect websites or servers, if someone wants it down, it will be taken down, and then your service terminated.
