********* business practices
I am an account holder at Ackermans. I recently found out I have a Hollard Funeral Policy I DID'NT apply for. I had settled my account in August, with the intention of not using it for a while. To my surprise I received a bill, stating I owe R 46.00, even though I haven' t used the account. The account was transferred to the collections department, who informed me this was because of the funeral cover I have linked to my account. I informed the person I never app**** for a funeral cover. I walked int the store one day and some "Ackermans employees" approached me, requesting to see my card. They informed me the card was linked to a number of benefits, and I need to sign a form in order to see if I qualify. At no point was I offered a funeral plan, nor did I ask for one. I was advised to go to the store to have my account closed. at the store I was requested to cancel with Hollard, whom I never contacted for a funeral cover. I was informed by Hollard that this will take a month, and they still need to collect a premium for that month. They also informed me if I did sign a form, I will not receive a refund. REALLY? Now my account with Ackermans cannot be closed because of this funeral cover, and the Ackermans collections department is still harassing me on a daily basis. this is appalling service. While they can see I settled my account, they cannot contact the customer service or Hollard to sort this mess out, and I could not speak to a supervisor or a manager. Instead I get threatening messages and phone calls, but no one is willing to solve my problem.
