HOLLARD FUNERAL POLICY

My dad took out a Hollard funeral policy via Edgars in 2005 so that his family would have money to bury him and not sc**** together money to do so. Dad passed away on 18 May 2023 at home. We lodged a claim on 30th May and was told payouts take 4 working days..after 4 working days on the 5th May we were told by the agent to get an explanation letter from the undertakers as the date on their burial form said 13th May and not 18th May..we did exactly this and uploaded the letter on their claims portal. When we called back the next day to confirm that we had done this..we were told by Zipho that they first needed to call the Dr at Karl Bremer hospital to confirm dad's date of death. We tried explaining that dad did not die in hospital so cannot understand why they needed to contact the Dr. The agent said they would query this with Hollard the assessors and I could put through a query with their escalations dept. I was told by their escalations dept that it would take a further 5 days to process this. Now on the 13th June...I called in and was told by an agent called Veni that they still haven't managed to get hold of the dr and its Hollard the assessors that are insisting on this...it's a Dr at a govt. hospital...how do they expect to get this Dr to return calls related to insurance claims when dad did not even die in hospital? It is PATHETIC that an insurance company sells a funeral policy meant to bury a loved one and at the worst time of a widows life...this is how she gets treated and this is what they do...find every trick in the book not to pay. Money was sourced from family members for a dignified burial with the understanding that they be repaid within a week..but because of this disgusting tactics of HOLLARD insurance this widow is now being embarrassed and stressed on top of her grief. It's a HOLLARD FUNERAL policy and the person is dead regardless of 13 or 18 May...and they have a death certificate from home affairs..Please check who your policies are underwritten by and do not take our policies underwritten by Hollard Insurance.
