Hollard Funeral Cover has no respect for the dead

I took out a funeral cover 24 years ago with Hollard for my late brother. The cover amount is just less than R7,000. (pitty seven thousand) My brother passed away on the 1st July 2021. I notified Hollard immediately after the release of death certificate. I have given them all documentation and nothing was paid out. I paid this cover from my bank account not my mother. After 14 days of waiting I called them several times and I was told that I need an authority letter. Well I went to court to get the said documents, The court said I need an affidavit from my mother because my late brother was never married and has no children. I explained my moms situation in vain (suffering from dementia, 92 years old and bedridden.

The court said I should ask the police to verify that. It took a week for the police to go around my mother's house to confirm her status. It's covid, It's unrest, It's Taxi wars and the police are working around the clock. For the past weeks I have been going to court and thrown from pillar to post. This thing of authority letter is just something Hollard is shifting the responsibility and ignoring the main issue of ukungcwaba. I'm sitting with the documents affidavits etc and the lady at the court is refusing to assist me because she overheard my husband telling the security guards about how *********** these people.

This is very disturbing because when I took this funeral cover I was never told of an authority letter. Also for the past 24 years never receive any correspondence to update me for the future requirements.

I am extremely disappointed with Hollard and will never recommend to no-one.
