Terrible and Intrusive Claims Process
I was recently involved in an accident with my vehicle where I misjudged a sharp bend and subsequently ended up crashing into s**** concrete blocks left on the pavement.
So after submitting the claim under the policy to Hollard I was informed a day later that the vehicle had been written off however the claim was referred to a senior claims validator who contacted me a further day later to request details about the accident as well as consent to access information around the vehicle and some personal records, which I provided within the course of that day, I was also advised that the validation process would take a total of 10 business days to complete and was not advised that further information or engagements would be required.
I was informed by the guards at the complex I stay in that someone from insurance was there and that they were told that my vehicle was in an accident and were showed pictures of me, and the vehicle and were asked questions about the vehicles we drive now, which I find to be an intrusion of my privacy as well as the fact that personal information was disclosed to an outside party (ie the guards on duty). The insurance person also disclosed to the guards my unit number and address. This caused both me and my family a huge amount of distress as we were not sure who else our info was disclosed to and if we were now targets for a hijacking or worse besides it being a massive privacy infringement.
On day 8 I was called after normal business hours by the said validator to inform me that they would like me to come into their offices in Park Town to present me with findings (which they cannot disclose over email or the phone) of the validation which they require clarification of from me.
I am absolutely terrified of having to deal with this company on the said matter going forward as I do not feel safe any longer and am basically not willing to meet with them due to this. I have requested that all communication be done over email from now onwards to which I have not received a response as yet.
I have given what information was requested and would just like an outcome so this can be closed off. Absolutely shocked at the level of abusivness and intrusion from such a well renowned insurance company, I won't disclose the name of the claims validator as I am not on here to defame him, but have noticed his name pop up on Hello Peter a few times with similar issues.
