Systems Offline, Again!

Our house sitter locked herself out of our house. I called my insurers, PPS-Hollard, to make use of their domestic assistance service.

Only to be told that their systems are down. Again. This is their default position - they cannot verify your details, you are obliged to pay cash, and claim back a portion when your details can be verified.

It's a complex ****. Service providers won't work for the paltry R500 Hollard fee, but they want the business. So Hollard claims its systems are down, the service provider can charge their regular fee, in my case R650, and I can only claim back R500, so Hollard's exposure is cash flow neutral. It's only the desperate client who loses. And in my case, I am away on holiday, I am over a barrel.

This is, I am not joking, the 4th time this has happened to me. A pox on you, Hollard.
