Repairs to roof left house worse off then before

So on Friday night while others enjoyed the constant lovely rain I had to be up with buckets and mops cleaning up the rain that was pouring into my home. Had to move furniture around to avoid further damage. Then spent the rest of the night stressing that nothing gets damaged. All thanks to contractors who knew nothing about what they were doing or took shortcuts to make more profit out of the deal.

The leaking in my house IS WORSE than before the contractors touched my house. And not just a little but it is leaking where we never had leaks before. The new ceiling is dripping from the joints which is obviously causing it to weaken and will certainly collapse further down the line. Water consistently runs through the sides of the ceilings not only in the lounge but the dining room too. I am reaching the end of my patience with this claim and the lack of interest of you and/or the contractors.

Should I not hear back from you by the end of today I will engage my own contractor and you will be sent the bill to settle. I really don't care how much they will charge, if you cannot find contractors that know what they are doing please do not make this my problem.

This is the 3rd complaint lodged for the one claim. My first claim ever and what a disappointment with the service received. I feel the contractors that came out knew nothing about what they were doing. Actually I lie, they knew how to ****** and attempt to ****** more money from me. They left my house making me feel like they were doing me a favour for the work carried out and to finish it properly I need to call them out privately. Even quoted me to finish the repairs on my fence. It took my neighbour less than a minute to resolve what they told me they will sort out for a charge of R1600.

For such a big name in the insurance space, you surely have no clue what is going on with your customers claims, complaints and last but not least, the unprofessional contractors you have coming out representing your brand.

I should have remained with Nedbank's insurance instead of chosing OOBA who is underwritten by you.

Greetings

I cannot do this mop and bucket story everyday so I am taking steps against OOBA and Hollard. Let the Ombudsman handle this going forward. You obviously have no interest in assisting and I am suffering the consequences of your pathetic service. I will also engage the service of a claims consultant at your cost. You want to be difficult? Good, I love a good fight & have a massive social media reach to do significant damage to your brand. My 2260 FB friends will be more than happy to forward my story to all their contacts.

I just got off the phone with Hollard. So they are rejecting the claim and will be doing nothing.

This is utter nonsense on so many levels. I have photographic evidence to back up the fact that water NEVER EVER ran down the sides of my walls as it does now in both my lounge and dining room after your contractors went up onto my roof. I have evidence that there was only leakage towards the centre of my ceiling hence causing it to start sagging. No where in any report will you see evidence of the cornices been damaged by rainfall. The moment your contractors leave then I have to wake up every time it starts raining to gather water with buckets, move my furniture around and mop up the access water. This is the first time living in my home that I have to resort this kind of behaviour. And it is only after the contractors left which leaves me to believe they did this on purpose for additional billing to you or privately to myself.

As for the electric fence issue. I really do not understand why I am been asked for my electrical certificate now when it was not an issue before when you sent out your people to work on the fence. At the time they came out they also left my fence worse off then it was before and yet it took my neighbour a few seconds to see what looks like a deliberate attempt to ****** more money from me. I say that because I was told it will cost me R1600 to repair the fence.

So after my neighbour fixed my fence it is working without any warning lights or sparking so why this is even part of the quote I really don't understand.

Maybe if you find contractors that are not exploiting you then your customers won't be exploited in the process. Everyone knows the customer suffers the blows due to incompetence. You will shirk responsibility and carry on without blinking or feeling guilty that you because cannot manage or own this situation you pull out every excuse and I suffer the consequences.

I will be fighting this on every level that I can and I will be moving back to Nedbank for my insurance. I sincerely hope they have no dealing with Hollard because your attitude towards this entire situation has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I will not be made an idiot of by you or anyone. I've never claimed in all these years. Maybe a geyser but not even sure about that and this is the treatment I get? I am sure many new home owners will appreciate a heads up on who not to trust in the insurance space.

Service in South Africa is at an all time low & pathetic state. Glad to see companies like OOBA and Hollard have no gripe joining this movement to shaft their customers.

So after everything been stated in the above complaint and multiple emails I get a call from Hollard. Now this has to be the cherry on top - I was called and told they got an email to quote me to reinstate my home insurance with them. Here is the email I sent below. Seems Hollard prides themselve in only chasing after more money. Can't make sense of a complaint. Only see's potential to take on another client. *********** much Hollard???

Good Day

I have my bond with Nedbank and for some time I accidentally had 2 home insurance policies, one with you and one with OOBA. When I realized this I decided to rather go with OOBA and cancelled my insurance with you. It was a massive mistake on my end as I did not realize OOBA and Hollard will give me such horrid service for a claim I submitted in November. I am actually worse off after they got involved and I am getting absolutely no joy from them.

I would like to find out the procedure to reinstate my home cover with you and cancel with OOBA. I want no dealings with them going forward and have lodged a formal complaint with the Ombudsman to address many of the ***** behaviour displayed by them and the contractors they employ.

Glad to see nobody gives a flying F about me, my complaint or my request for the information about my claim.

This is truly a joke. You leave one feeling like both OOBA and Hollard are Mickey Mouse companies opened yesterday.

You know what is funny about all of this? I just got details of the report on my roof. So in black in white it states the following: "The roof inspection was done and we found that the roof is well maintained."

It goes on to say: "The roof of the main house shows that it was waterproofed recently"

And you still want to fight me on this?
