Rejection of claim

Last month I parked my vehicle in Durban central and I locked my vehicle before departing. I have the habit of pressing my remote twice and I heard the doors lock. When I returned 30 mins later I found my rear drivers side door opened. My laptop bag which was behind the drivers seat was ****** (with all my personal items). I obviously reported the incident to the SAPS and proceeded with an all risk claim from my insurer. I was requested by the insurer to provide quotes/receipts for all the items that were ****** from my bag. Two weeks later I received a letter of rejection from the insurer stating that my claim cannot be honored if the following criteria was not met, i.e. the vehicle must be locked, the items must be concealed and there must be signs of forcible entry. I was surprised that the claim was rejected considering I had to go out of my way to obtain quotes, etc. I responded with a letter of dispute stating that I did lock my doors, my bag was concealed behind the drivers seat since I drive a station wagon and cannot place the bag in th boot. Furthermore I drive a landcruiser (which is a very high vehicle) with tinted windows so the bag was definitely concealed. To me there was forcible entry because only 1 door was opened when I returned and all the other doors were still locked which indicates the rear drivers side door was tampered with. My claim was still rejected based on the first letter. Subsequently I have escalated the matter to the Ombudsman.
