Left stranded after our accident..."becasue it is the holidays"

I was traveling over December and we hit a cement bollard that was in the middle of our lane, incapacitating the vehicle.

On the phone with Hollard, the lady tells me that we qualify for a courtesy car with our insurance, so I am trying to find out the procedure for getting one, or how everything works. She goes on to tell me that because it is the holidays, and the claims department is closed, in fact I cannot claim for a vehicle today. She can send one to us, but I will have to pay cash for it myself, and will not be able to reclaim it later.

Firstly, I don't have cash on me, and secondly...What? I have to pay myself because my accident happened to occur during a holiday??? That made no sense to me, so I argued with the lady, telling her how ridiculous that is and I do not have money for that. I asked her if she expects us to sit on the side of the road or walk the 8 hours home because they are on holiday? She then went on to tell me that I should ask the tow truck driver to give us (and our relatives and full vehicle of luggage) a lift to the closest garage or police station and wait there until Monday when the department is open.......wait at a garage until Monday?????? I would strongly advise anyone considering insurance through Hollard to find out about Hollards procedures on holidays first. They left us totally stranded. And on coming home and following up myself, I find out that actually we did not even qualify for a vehicle at all. All that stress and time wasted because the lady on the phone gave me all the wrong information. And 2 weeks later I still have no idea when my vehicle will be returned. It is still on the other aside of the country - "because of the holidays".
