Hollard Travel Insurance... Loosing a loved one isnt proof enough!

My parents were planned on a trip overseas, they purchased Hollard travel insurance for the trip. A month later my dad was diagnosed with cancer, was undergoing treatment and a month before the trip he suddenly passed away in the evening.

So the airline refunded his ticket with no issues, but my mums ticket wasnt refunded due to the airline rules, I then asked Hollard to assist and my god they are horrible people.

It started with a simple mail requesting, a list of documents, which was sent, then an agent Nerusha Francis started requesting the same submitted documents, then she requested my personal credit card statements, then she requested 6 months medical history (even though my dads doctor wrote a letter to them), now they insist the airline should have refunded taxes, then she wants the BI-1663 form which was given to Home Affairs and it goes on!!! My dad was insured for his 60th trip and he died of natural cause, is it not simple enough? Must the agent run his memory down with inconsiderate comments.

I have had it with Hollard and the 10 mails and 20 requests for documents, to be honest a Jnr doctor wouldn't even understand 6 months medical history of a cancer patient let alone a desk agent. A truly unreasonable and emotionally torturing experience from Hollard, please avoid them if your reading this, they are the industry scavenges.

Keep your insurance you pathetic company!

So I received a mail today regarding this claim, basically there is a clause stating because my dad for the last 2 years cancer a "pre-existing condition" the claim for my mum for refund of the plan ticket has been denied? So basically if you have any form cancer or illness 6 months before your trip, Hollard will never consider your claim valid. The irony is Hollard equivalents "pre-existing medical condition" clause, to the loss of life? Now do you see the ethically and misrepresentation of their own words? This will story will appear in the Umhlanga news next month, because sometimes the money is less important then letting the public know how ********* insurers operate.
