Hollard Insurance wants to write-off your vehicle - WHY???
My vehicle had body damage and after approval from my insurance company Naked, and the the underwriters being Hollard, it was towed to my nearest Panel beater.
The underwriters being Hollard, came to a decision that the vehicle needs to be written off. The vehicle was not mechanically damaged and panel-beating could easily be undertaken. Hollard went to the extent of threatening that I carry the storage AND towing costs thereby subtly placing pressure on me to agree to the write-off. I did not agree.
The crux, after many emails and telephonic chats is to use your judgement, seek objective opinion and do your research (retail/market value against your insured amount, what you will be paid out, extent of damage etc), before you agree to write-it off. Naked Inc was of no help either, in some instances stalling for time when it came to specific questions. Keep all records of interactions.
The REASON for Insurers/Underwriters who in my opinion work hand-in-hand push the client to write off their vehicles is that they make almost double the value on your vehicle when it is sold at a "write-off" auction.
Do NOT agree to remove your vehicle from an approved panel shop until you are 100% sure that your vehicle is beyond repairs.
Lastly think twice before you sign up with any insurer with Hollard being the underwriter.
