Hollard Insurance: claim for building insurance

My family has a building insurance with Hollard. Last year November 13th, Johannesburg experienced a severe hail storm that damaged people houses, businesses and cars. I live in an area that was severely affected by this hail storm and our property had several damages as a result of the hail storm. We submitted our claim to Hollard with the hope that they will fix the damages we suffered. Hollard Insurance sent an assessor to come and assess the damages to our property. The guy who came was in and out of our property, didn't spend more than 10 minutes assessing the place , he looked like he was rushing somewhere else, he didn't bring the ladder to assess damages on the roof etc. Hollard came back to us and they partially approved the claim indicating that some of the damages were due to deterioration, maintenance issues etc and not the hail storms. We sent Hollard pictures of our home prior to the storm which showed that the roof was maintained, the painting was intact and that our property was well maintained before the hail storm and they still stood by their decision. The process of claiming should not be this difficult when we pay our hard earned monies towards premiums. Why does Hollard take our monies when they cannot help us in times of uncer*****ies!!! We have never experienced a hail storm like the one last year and for Hollard to come back and tell us that the damages we suffered are not as result of the hail storm is mind boggling. We are very disappointed with the service we have received from Hollard. We would never recommend anyone to take insurance with Hollard.
