Don't pay claims and not treating customers fairly.
I was involved in a motor vehicle accident on 19 May 2022. I have reported the accident, provided supporting documentation and comp**** with what was requested. My broker then requested the spare keys of the vehicle and change of ownership documentation. Shortly before same were collect I was advised that the claim must go to the claims manager to sign off due to the amount. Suddenly things changed, I was then requested to submit my vehicle tracking report for the 19th and 20th of May, which I did. Then they wanted bank statements for the same days as well as my office access reports, logs from residence and more. I was interviewed by an investigator, gave witness information of which the investigator only chose to interview one witness and not the other. The goal post continually changed and more and more information were requested. They even wated information from prior to the accident which had no relevance. It became clear Hollard was looking for reasons not to settle my claim. On 3 August 2022 my claim was rejected without any evidence that I was at fault. I have proven with SANRAL movements that I was not speeding and can confirm that there was no suspicion of any wrongdoing nor did SAPS or JMPD have any concerns of negligence or breaking the law in any way. I then approached the OMBUD. Hollard responded to the OMBUD and requested a response from me. Based on my response, Hollard decided to re-open the claim. Only to simply waste more time and reject my claim once again. I was told to complain to Hollard’s Internal Adjudicator. After weeks of back and forth and liaising with the claims department the Adjudicator noted the response from their claims department which was factually incorrect and my evidence was ignored. On 22 February 2023 I responded to the comments, my email was acknowledged and feedback were promised within 7 working days. I have been following up regularly and to date have not had any feedback. I offered on several occasions to meet or send any evidence but it was not taken up. Hollard is simply not treating customers fairly and do not want to settle claims. I can also confirm that Hollard and/or its providers are not adhering to POPIA as they without my consent approached my employer for personal information without my consent. Its been more than 12 months since I submitted my claim and it’s still not settled. Shame on you Hollard!
