Disappointing Car Insurance Service

2014 HYUNDAI SONATA 2.4 GDI ELITE

Friday 7th July 2017

At about 09h00 I reversed in my mother’s driveway and hooked my left hand side mirror off on the garage door guide rail. When I got home and after I switched the car of, it wouldn’t start again. The car was completely dead. I notified Hyundai Somerset West of the occurrence, who informed me to contact Roadside Assistance, which I did. Roadside Assistance was unable to start the car and Hyundai Somerset West informed me that I may be liable for the towing cost which reasons they provided.

After several phone calls between Liquid Capital and Hollard, I managed to register a claim with Hollard. My car was collected at my home at around 15h00 and I was informed via SMS that the car had been taken to SMD for assessment.

Monday 10th July 2017

At about 09h00 I phoned the Claims Department at Hollard to enquire about my car, whereby the consultant informed me that no claim had been registered and that I have do the registering process again, which I did.

Tuesday 11th July 2017

In the course of the day I phoned the Claims Department at Hollard and all they could tell me is that my car is at SMD awaiting Assessment and that, that process could take up to 48 hours.

Wednesday 12th July 2017

I phoned the Claims Department at Hollard, no Assessment had been done as yet.

Thursday 13th July 2017

I phoned the Claims Department at Hollard, no Assessment had been done as yet

Friday 14th July 2017

I had received via email from MS Busi at the Claims Department at Hollard, quoting two Claim Numbers, requesting my son’s driver’s license and a copy of his ID document. I phoned Busi at about 08h30 enquiring why this information is required, whereby she mentioned about my mom’s car and some unknown information to me. I rectified her with regards to the information given and she confirmed that the data with respect to the claim was captured incorrectly. She said she will sort things out

About two hours later an Assessor phoned me saying he had done the assessment on the car and that the car would be taken to CK Coachworks at No 18 Lily Road Tokai for repairs. He would not disclose the contents of his quotation to me. He did however stated that the car computer box needs recoding and that CK Coachworks are authorized to do that.

I phoned Busi at the Claims Department at Hollard who stated that the Assessor authorized the mirror replacement and spray painting to my car amounting to R5 700.00. as far as I know, no spray painting is required to my car as a result of this particular incident. I immediately stressed and went to CK Coachworks Workshop only to find that my car had not been collected at SMD yet.

In an attempt to expedite the process, I intended filing a complaint at Liquid Capital and Hollard without success.

Saturday 15th July 2017

I phoned CK Coachworks emergency cell number to enquire about my car’s whereabouts. A person answered and as I was introducing myself and explaining the reasons for phoning, we were cut off. I tried two or three times and got a voicemail message.

Monday 17th July 2017

At 12h00 I phone CK Coachworks and the lady at reception informed me that they couldn’t collect my car on Friday the 14th of July 2017 as my car was parked in at SMD. She also said that the car will be at their workshop at 14h00. I instructed her, like I did on Friday and requested Kerwin to phone me once the car arrive at their workshop, for them to contact me before they proceed with any work. This we agreed. She informed Kerwin of this agreement.

I phoned again at 15h00 where I was informed that my car had not arrived yet and that they will phone me as soon as it does.

I phoned once again at 17h25 just before their closing time and a very reluctant Kerwin confirmed that my car had arrived. I requested him to phone me after his assessment and report on his findings, i.e. Assessors quotation and his findings, prior to commencing with any work. He insisted about ordering parts and stripping my car.

I will visit CK Coachwork’s Workshop tomorrow.

Conclusion

I have spent fruitless hours on the phone for the last ten days and with no success after I knocked the mirror off my car. This I feel is unacceptable considering the inconvenience. I have to arrange with family and pay them to take me to the shop for bread and milk. The worst is; when you phone Hollard and Liquid Capital, it takes at least a minute listening to their terms and conditions before you are placed on hold waiting for a consultant only to be advised that u at the wrong department and they transfer you and you get cut off in the process. I wish I knew how much airtime I spent on the above, its probably hours. (I STILL DON’T HAVE MY CAR)

Dissatisfied Hyundai Customer.

Andre **********
