I went to Edgars Polokwane and opened a clothing account late 2016. The lady who was assisting me asked for my three payslips as well as identity document. We filled out the application form and informed her that I was on a learnership programme however she told us that she will send the application and only Edgars will decide. We agreed to take the insurance and other related accounts products. Two days later we received approval sms and we went to Edgars Lephalale to activate the account. Months went by and the account was well managed up until my learnership came to an end on the 17th August 2017. The company that I was working for decided not to renew our contracts due to non-availability of posts. I went to Edgars Wonderpark to report that I was no longer employed and asked the consultant to assist me with the insurance claim. She called Hollard insurance and she was advised to send my documents together with the claim form. A week later I received a call from Hollard and I was advised that the company will not be paying out as I was on contract basis. The Hollard representative sent me the reference number ********** 409 for the call. Edgars should have declined my application from the onset because they knew my job status at the time of my application.
