12 day still stranded why Insure???

My car has been involved in a car accident and it took 4 days to find my car after being towed.it caused physical and mental strain on me .i am still without a car or even a response if my claim will be paid out.My fiance six month pregnant and now has to walk and take a taxi as i do not know where we stand.I have been promised a call from the assesor last week and to date no call.why does one insure if you are made to feel like you are not important but each month your debit is taken with no fail.do we really have people who care ??????Are we just a number??
