Spam galore and ********* use of personal information

The website is fairly easy to work with to get your quote, but wow. Be prepared for the most spam calls you have ever received in your life.

I honestly don't think it is worth it.

Secondly, I don't remember granting consent for my contact details to be shared with the company I was interested in, and I also don't remember granting consent for me to be contacted by Hippo representatives. Even if I did, they trick you into granting consent, almost by accident. Although this might be legal, it is *********.

I'm still getting spam calls labelled as "Insurance Spam" on Truecaller. Who did you sell my data to and did I ever grant you consent?

Hi Rian, our team has noted that you selected King Price on our website and in doing so, King Price did attempt to call you back. We have reached out to King Price to opt you out from receiving further calls and you have been successfully opted out.

Yes, I gave King Price a wide timeslot in which they could phone me back and they failed to follow through, so I lost interest.

What bothers me about your website is that it is not clear that clicking on "I'm Interest" will immediately share your personal information with this company. I'm sure you've covered yourself legally here (right?), but hiding it so well that it's not clear is plain *********** (don't know why Hello Peter keeps on masking that word?!).

Furthermore, after using your website, I did not only receive calls from King Price, but also from DSTV and some credit cards company. Either you are selling my personal information, or one of your clients are. This is enough for me to never use Hippo again, and I'll be advising my friends and colleagues of the same.

Thank you. I can confirm after you requested the insurer to stop, I no longer receive close to 10 calls a day.

To be honest, in today's day and age, people are no longer comfortable receiving cold calls, even if initiated via Hippo. As a rule, I don't answer numbers I don't know, out of fear for yet another cold call that wastes my time.

Is it not time for Hippo to take their service offering to the next step? Instead of being a simple platform for customers to get quotes and then accidentally letting their contact details being shared with service providers, perhaps you can upgrade your platform to not only initiate the conversation, but facilitate it from end-to-end.

I want to be able to ask for quotes on Hippo, but then all further engagement must be on your platform, almost as its own little social network. In that way I never have to share my contact details with anyone and I feel safe during all discussions with service providers.
