Insurance companies refuse to quote
I embarked today on a simple thing like challenging my current insurance premium. However both with Hippo and Hollard I found that they simply refuse to give a quotation without doing an ITC check. I have also been informed this is how all insurance companies do it.
Now in my mind they are not a credit provider, so first of all they should not even have access to ITC. They in any case do not pay-out of you haven't paid your installment!!!
Secondly if I request quotations from 5 insurance companies, my ITC scoring drops due to the amount of credit checks.
I dont know who put this system in place, but it is clearly *****ing money from customers because their options are limited.

We acknowledge receipt of your complaint.
One of our Customer Relation Specialists attempted to contact you on the number provided, unfortunately without any success as the number does not exist on the network.
We would like to clarify your concerns as follow(s):
Performing a credit check to generate an insurance quote will not negatively affect your credit rating.
Each search footprint will show the name of the organisation that carried out the search, reason for the check and when it took place.
Only checks made to support your actual credit application leave the type of search footprint that can affect your credit rating in a negative way.
We trust the above clarifies your concerns.
Regards,
The Hippo Insurance Team.
