Do not use hippo.co.za car rental

Stay far away from hippo when renting cars!

I booked and paid online with my cheque card, with no mention of needing a credit card for the deposit. As it turns out, hippo uses an international company, rentalcars.com to handle their bookings.

They did not want to refund my money, neither dis Woodford car rental want to accept another person's credit card (or my cheque card) for the deposit. The only alternative was to change the booking and wait for 2 hours as Woodford did not want to entertain the idea of letting us book and go.

Finally, you cannot contact a natural person at hippos, so it is money down the drain.
