HILLS ZD dog food - CONTROLLING AND MANIPULATING THE MARKET AND UNAFFORDABLE PET FOOD

Good day, please hear my very valid concerns regarding Hill Pet Nutrition prices of food. I have a little dog. She has a super sensitive stomach and after years of trying different foods, we have established that her body cannot break down proteins. My dog has been on the Hills ZD kibble and tin food for over a year now. I also tried her on Royal Canin hypoallergenic which was a bit more affordable (which went well for a few months, but she would still get bad colic and cramps). So she's ONLY using Hills ZD now because there are no other alternatives on the market. Firstly, my poor dog most days doesn't even want to eat as this is the ONLY food she gets and I'm sure she is bored as heck eating the same food every single day and night. Secondly, the cost of the Hills ZD is just ridiculously expensive. For 1 kg it costs approximately R334.00 and for 1 tin of the soft food is approx R85.00 a soft food tin. I need about 2.5kgs of kibble for my little dog per month and about 4 cans of soft food costing approximately R1008.00 per month and I am a woman on my own barely making it financially myself. Now they are only selling 1kg, 3kg and 10kg and it is so expensive to say the least. Thirdly, the tin food (which needs to be used within 3 days) - is too big for a small dog to use within 3 days because I give a tables**** to my dog with her kibble in order to try coax her to eat her food. So then I end up wasting half the tin and Hills doesn't make a "half size can" like Royal Canin. I've tried FREEZING the food in portions a few times and this is not working out either because the consistency of the soft food changes and goes all crumbly and my dog refuses to eat defrosted crumbly can food. What a waste of money. R85 for 1 tin is beyond my comprehension. This is costing me more than HUMAN FOOD!! Lastly, if this is how expensive this ZD food is now and it only increases in price ALL THE TIME, how the heck am I going to be able to feed my dog for the rest of her life when ALL SHE CAN EAT IS THE HILLS ZD FOOD!! This is not right because I have no other alternatives to go buy "affordable" food elsewhere for my dog's tummy condition. I am just below middle class single person and I feel like I have a gun to my head because I am being forced to use Hills ZD (as my dogs tummy condition is chronic) so I have no other alternatives. I feel like Hills Pet Nutrition Food is robbing people. They are controlling and manipulating the market and price fixing. Its not right because I cannot afford these prices. I may end up having to put my dog down if I can't continue to feed her Hills ZD with the way they keep putting up their prices. This is downright unfair of Hills. They should be ashamed of themselves. We as consumers are trying to feed our beloved pets the best we can (especially with pets with health issues) and our hands are tied !!!
