HEROTEL - an absolute non example for customer service
Below is the email I sent to which no-one responded. It was sent on the 13 April....I think enough time has lapsed....
Before I go to social media – I thought in all fairness to write this email. I wish to express my extreme displeasure at the level of service I have received from Herotel Potchefstroom. The email below refers to. This is with regard to an installation at my premises. I was informed that fibre was an option when I did the application. All good, and the process began (see date – 23 Feb 2023). On Friday, 24 March 2023 – a personage called Martin arrived to do the installation. After inspecting the site, he informed me that another technician would have to come as the Herotel point (where the fibre is) is on the next property (the point is about 4 to 5 meters away). I heard nothing further and on the 4 April 2023 at 11:19, I sent a message to Martin asking for an update. He informed me that he no longer is in Potchefstroom and in Pretoria and that I must phone the office – presumptuous of him, I must say. I then logged a ticket (of course – to which there was no response). I then called Herotel on 11 April 2023 at 10h35. I was told that I should schedule a date for the installation to be done. I agreed upon Thursday 13 April 2023 at 09h00. At 10h00, when no-one had pitched, I called your offices – to be told that someone will call me back. They did call, only to inform me that fibre could not be installed. You can or maybe not given my dealings so far, that I was totally flummoxed. I mean this is one of those *** moments. I am unable to comprehend despite my ability to be able to do so, what actually transpired and what kind of incompetence I was having the misfortune to deal with. I decided not to engage further with the personage on the phone for fear of my quick temper getting the better of me – one should as they say never shoot the messenger. In this case, I am unaware where the incompetence is, or if it is just a general modality in the company. I had been warned that the service levels at Herotel were not up to standard...I decided however not to heed sage advice – to my own detriment. I assume that in instances when a company has significant market share, that they can afford to have “a stuff you” attitude to potential clients. The potential loss when the service level is substandard is probably not significant, however that should not be the case. One would expect that reputational damage is something a company would want to avoid – but sadly seems not to be the case here. As if salt in my wounds was not enough, I was not even offered an apology – but I guess the poor person who was conned into calling me was expecting an explosion on the other end of the earpiece, that a “less said the better” approach was expedient. I am being civil in this communication whereas my worst self feels like raising hell at your offices and on social media. I am totally not impressed. ****it, surely you goons can do better?
