HP does not favour small businesses in SA

Hello Peter claims to act as a communication tool between customers and business owners which in turn helps people make better decisions in using services or purchasing products. The problem is that Hello Peter charges astronomical fees to allow businesses to simply reply to their customers on the platform.

A small business in South Africa has to pay over R8000 annually to reply to only 5 customers a month! The fees go up if you want to access more replies!

How can such a platform provide customers and business owners with a fair assessment of service delivery or context to complaints if the small business owner cant even afford to reply to customers?

What a terrible exploitation of small business owners in SA.

Hi there, Jeremy.
Thanks for reaching out.

We understand your concerns about our service model and appreciate the opportunity to clarify. Hellopeter is dedicated to fostering open communication between consumers and businesses. Our platform allows businesses to access all their reviews at no cost. If a business or consumer suspects suspicious activity, they can report the review to us. We then conduct a thorough investigation, requesting "proof of dealings" where necessary. If the review is found to be inappropriate, we take appropriate action, including removal.

We offer paid plans for businesses that wish to engage more deeply–such as responding directly to feedback or accessing advanced analytics. These plans help us cover the resources needed to maintain and continually improve our platform for all users.

It’s important to note that Hellopeter’s subscription model aligns with trusted international platforms like Trustpilot. These platforms also charge businesses for access to advanced tools that help manage, monitor, and respond to feedback, creating a balanced and constructive review environment.

We hope this clears up any confusion. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us!
