HelloPeter Cares About Revenue, Not Consumers
HelloPeter operates less like a platform for genuine consumer trust and more like a subscription-driven business. They actively encourage businesses to resolve poor reviews, yet make it extremely difficult for customers to update or change their star ratings afterwards.
What’s worse, businesses can’t even respond to reviews unless they pay an exorbitant monthly fee. If you email them for support, they won’t reply in writing — instead, they try to call you to upsell their response package. This shows they are more interested in selling subscriptions than actually helping clients make informed decisions.
For example, Takealot holds a shocking 1.78-star rating on HelloPeter. By their own system, that would suggest nobody should shop there — which clearly isn’t true. So how reliable are these metrics really?
At the end of the day, it feels like HelloPeter profits off businesses who are forced to pay a few thousand rand per month just to defend themselves against frustrated customers, rather than building a trustworthy review ecosystem.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re deeply sorry to hear that you haven’t had a positive experience.
Hellopeter is a platform that connects consumers and businesses. We don’t resolve issues directly, but we give your voice a place to be heard and help businesses engage with their customers. If a business hasn’t responded or resolved your concern, we understand how frustrating that can be.
We’re constantly working to improve the platform and encourage more businesses to be active and responsive. If you’d like help navigating your review or need support, please feel free to reach out to us at ***.
Hope that helps clear things up.
Have a great day.

To clarify:
- Any consumer can post a review for free.
- Any business can respond to reviews at no cost — we don’t block replies behind a paywall.
- We do offer optional subscription packages that provide extra tools for businesses (such as quicker notifications, analytics, and review management dashboards). These are not required to engage with customers but are there to make the process easier for businesses that receive high volumes of feedback.

We’re sorry if we caused any confusion. To clarify: all businesses can sign up for a free trial, during which they’re able to reply to reviews and experience our software. Once the trial ends, access to those features expires unless a business chooses to continue with one of our subscription plans.
All businesses can always view their reviews for free, and all reviews and replies are public to both businesses and consumers. Subscriptions are designed for those who want to actively manage their reputation on an ongoing basis, with added tools such as sending review requests (via WhatsApp, SMS, email, etc.), receiving alerts, replying to reviews, and accessing analytics dashboards, all of which incur costs to Hellopeter.
Like other trusted international platforms such as Trustpilot, our subscription plans allow us to maintain and improve the platform while giving businesses the resources they need to manage feedback effectively and constructively.
We hope this provides some clarity.
