HELLO DOCTOR REFUSE 3 YEAR OLD WITH 39+ FEVER AUTHORIZATION TO BE EXAMINED BY GP
I am absolutely disgusted in the Hello doctor service that momentum health4 me has provided. It's currently 1:44am. My 3 year old has had a fever ranging anywhere from 38 degrees to 40 degrees over the last 24 hours. Like all parents do, I have managed the fever with Panado and eventually empaped but not long after the fever comes down it spikes again. We've given tepid baths, wiped him down with cool wet cloths and provided sufficient liquids in order to stay hydrated.
I just had a doctor tell my partner (main member) and then myself on a separate request that she will not issue an authorisation for our child to see a doctor as she feels it's 'just' a fever and she can prescibe paracetamol and that we can take our child to a doctor out of our own volition.
The doctor has refused to provide her name and practice information and has advised that despite the fact that we are paying for this insurance that we can take him to a government hospital if we so wish but she will not be provideding the necessary authorisation required to have our gp actually examine my child.
This doctor is well aware by the information on file that my child is being treat for asthma and previously pneumonia, with covid and some serious childhood illnesses going around I would expect doctor's on Hello doctor to be more cautious than ever especially with children displaying the symptoms that my child is displaying.
