********* service from Harcourts Grahamstown and property owner

Harcourts Grahamstown arranged the lease of a flat in Grahamstown for our son at university there. The property was not finished when he moved in and, despite numerous requests, e-mails, snag-lists and phone calls, very little progress was made on the problems. These included no boundary fence, no hot water for several days, workman in the property unsupervised and without prior approval.

After months of making very little progress, we requested at least a reduction in rental because we were not being given the full quality of prodduct we were paying for. Despite numerous requests, the agent either did not go back to the owner with this request or simply chose to ignore it, but she certainly never had the courtesy to answer the request. We chose to withhold rental for July until we received an answer.

We were then told we could pay half a month's rental if he moved out by the middle of the month. We advised them that this was not possible as he had nowhere else to stay, plus they were obliged to give at least one month's notice.

Since then, they have again ignored all requests for some leniency in terms of rental, and in fact have chosen to hand the matter over to debt collectors and have sent us unpleasant, demanding ultimatums.

We have reluctantly paid the full month's rental, but would advise anyone against using their services.

Dear Writer

Whilst going through this site, I came upon your review and want to apologise for this late response.

Your negative experience is definitely not something that resonates with the Harcourts culture and I will endeavour to get a quick response from the Grahamstown office.

Take care and kind regards,

Sonja van de Pas

Dear Writer

After following up with the agency I was informed that the issues had been resolved between the tenant, landlord and agent last year.

Thank you and here's wishing you all the best.

Take care and kind regards,
