Agent holding a grudge and being unprofessional.
This is not the first time that I am unfairly treated by this company but the second time. The same agent from Harcourts. The first incident happened in June 2022. I app**** for an apartment and they approved me with the owner's approval. I paid all the money that was required of me. The agent Rene said she will handover the key on Friday. I then made plans to move with a truck etc. I kept in contact with her all the time, It was at 20.00 she said she cannot handover the key as the money does not reflect in their account. I have sent the proof of payment but it was still not good enough, myself and my son and I were waiting with all our things in the truck and car till late for her only to find out we were not moving in. I then went to my mom with all my things. Luckily I have parents to fall back on or I had to sleep on the street. THe Saturday it was a repeat and the Sunday, she kept on saying she will give the key but never did. On Monday I went to the offices and they said yes the payment reflects I can receive their key now. I then decided to go to another agent and rent from them.
After two yrs I decided to give Rene and Harcourts another try. On thursday 11 June 2024 she listed a property and I immediatly enquired about it. The viewing was then scheduled for the Saturday. I went to the viewing and she promised to send me the application as soon as she gets home. I reminded her a few times to send the papers but she never did she did not even read my msg, I then asked someone else to call on behalf of me, she answered her messages and calls. The Sunday again I messaged but still no answer. She only sent thru the application form to me at 12:08 midnight on Monday morning, There after I then heard nothing from her. I did my own investigation on Thursday morning and found out the property is rented out to someone else.
I immediately called the boss Charl and told him all of the above he made notes and said that on my application a NO is written.... why I don't know. He then asked Danylle and Theresa to make contact with me. I was then told my application was not there and my co-application application incomplete. But with Charl he could confirm some details, for example the payment of R400 that was done.
I gave them a chance and completed the application again and submitted my documents as I really wanted this property. But at the back of my mind I knew they were just doing this process in order for me not to be suspicious about it. And to cover up for Rene. Danylle then confirmed with an email stating my application with one other applicant is with the landlord for decision. Today Friday, I followed up and I am receiving an email saying I did not get the property they went with someone else. It was between myself and three others. The email also states good morning but it is already 15:30. This is a clear indication of copying and pasting.
You know this rental agency is messing with tenants. They know we are desperate to rent a property and they will exploit us to the fullest. Each applicant must pay an application fee, and you cannot even take it to another agency as they need to make their own ref checks. Everytime you apply for a property you must pay.
So now I am out of a rental unit and Rene won once again and nothing happens to her. How many people is she doing this to and how many times can Harcourts cover up for her
