<p>In 2015, life took an unexpected turn. With no job for 3 months my Vodacom account was handed over. We agreed on an amount I could pay every month and life seemed to be going back on track.</p> <p> </p> <p>In Jan 2016, I asked for a statement and/or outstanding balance. Things looked brighter and thought I could pay more. The agent told me I owed R5100. Sure it was steep so I thought I wouldn't rock the boat just yet.</p> <p> </p> <p>In May 2016, I again asked for a statement and/or balance. I didn't get one. The agent neglected my mail. Life got busy anyway. Plus their nagging automated calls and sms's were a sure reminder I still owed.</p> <p> </p> <p>In September 2016, I received an email from the agent to say I owed R4315. Hmm.. that's not possible. I'm pretty good at math, and if I owed R5100 in January then I should owe R3440 now. So again I asked for a statement to date. Hmm.. that's when the silent treatment started. I waited a week. No reply. So I went to the website and emailed a few more people. Sure I got a reply "We'll look into this and get back to you" ... After a few more days of silence... I got annoyed. Then finally I got a statement as at May 2016 and guess what... I owed R3063 in May!</p> <p> </p> <p>So if I owed R3063 in May... why do I owe R4315 in September? Why is the outstanding amount going up? I asked this burning question multiple times... and received no reply except "We're looking into it and will revert back COB/soonest"</p> <p> </p> <p>I wasn't having it anymore... I included the director who ensured I'd get a response by COB that day. Two days later and complete silence... I was on the verge of screaming! I finally got a statement. Would you look at that... In September I actually owe R1643 and NOT R4315. Now imagine if I had paid the full amount. Would they have reimbursed me for paying too much?</p> <p> </p> <p>To this day... I am still waiting to hear why there was a discrepancy in the outstanding amount. At some point, I was **** to, on the verge of being cheated and with all the silent treatment I got... someone was keeping secrets!</p>
