Based on recent customer reviews, Hammond Pole Inc is described overwhelmingly negatively by consumers dealing with debt collection instructions from Vodacom, MTN, FNB, Telkom, Nedbank, Absa and Standard Bank. Complaints centre on repeated calls and daily emails, including contact after hours and on accounts customers say were already settled, prescribed or never held. Many report long delays obtaining paid-up letters and credit bureau updates, unanswered emails, inconsistent information between consultants, and disputed balances. A property transfer registration matter and a summons service dispute drew similar frustration over silence and unresolved escalations.

Dear Sir/Madam, I trust you are well. I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the delay in receiving my paid-up letter and the failure to close my settled credit card account. I previously held a credit card account with ABSA. Due to financial difficulties, I was unable to maintain the repayments, and the account was subsequently handed over to Hammond Pole Attorneys for collection. Following discussions with Hammond Pole Attorneys, we reached a settlement agreement, and I was offered a settlement amount of R13,800.00. In accordance with the agreement, I paid R14,000.00 on 05 August 2026, thereby settling the account in full. I was advised that I would receive a paid-up letter within 21 working days after payment. However, despite numerous follow-ups since 31 August 2026, I have still not received the paid-up letter. Every time I contact Hammond Pole Attorneys, I am informed that a follow-up will be done, but no feedback is provided. I am then required to call back and repeat the same query, only to receive the same response. On 28 September 2026, one of the consultants advised me to visit an ABSA branch to request the paid-up letter directly. On 01 October 2026, I visited ABSA and was informed that my account no longer reflects on their system because it had been handed over to Hammond Pole Attorneys. As a result, ABSA could not assist me with the paid-up letter. My concerns are as follows: The account was settled in full on 05 August 2026. I have not received my paid-up letter despite repeated requests. The account still appears open on my credit profile (ITC). I continue to incur inconvenience and frustration due to the lack of communication and resolution. I respectfully request that this matter be investigated urgently and that Hammond Pole Attorneys: Issue my paid-up letter immediately; Confirm that the account has been settled in full; Update all relevant credit bureau records to reflect the account as paid and closed; and Provide written confirmation once the process has been completed. I have made every reasonable effort to resolve this matter directly with Hammond Pole Attorneys, but unfortunately, I have not received the assistance required. Should this matter remain unresolved, I will have no option but to escalate the complaint further through the appropriate regulatory channels and consumer platforms, including HelloPeter. I trust that your intervention will assist in resolving this matter promptly. Kind regards,

Broken Settlement Agreements, Unjustified Penalties, and Complete Silence
I am writing this review out of sheer frustration with the complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and communication from both Vodacom and their legal representatives, HP Attorneys (HPA). The Broken Agreement Due to currently being unemployed, I negotiated a settlement agreement with HPA. I was provided with a final, discounted settlement balance to clear my arrears in full. The explicit agreement was that upon receipt of this payment, my contract would be cancelled and my line migrated to prepaid. I paid this amount exactly as requested. I have written proof of the settlement total, and at no point was a "premature cancellation penalty" ever disclosed or mentioned. Vodacom’s Delays & Fabricated Charges After my payment was made, it took Vodacom an entire month to process and clear the account on their system. Because of their internal administrative delay, by the time the account was "ready" to be cancelled, new monthly charges had accumulated. Vodacom then refused to cancel the contract, demanding payment for these new charges PLUS a premature cancellation penalty that was never part of the original HPA settlement. Unjustified Disconnection & Harassment Despite fulfilling my side of the agreement, my line has been cut off and my CLIP deactivated. To make matters worse, instead of resolving the issue between themselves, Vodacom and HPA have now handed this fabricated, disputed balance over to a completely different attorney firm, who is now harassing me for money I do not owe. Being Ignored for 3 Weeks I have been actively trying to resolve this, but there has been zero communication from either Vodacom or HPA for the last three weeks. Tracking shows that my follow-up emails are being blatantly deleted by Vodacom without being read, while HPA simply reads the emails and refuses to reply. I honored my financial obligations under our agreement in good faith, and I refuse to be penalized for Vodacom's delays and HPA's failure to communicate with their client. Desired Resolution: The secondary attorney handover must be immediately recalled. All unjustified charges (accumulated during Vodacom's delay) and undisclosed cancellation penalties must be permanently waived. My contract must be officially cancelled and migrated to prepaid with a zero balance, as originally agreed. It has been months. Fix this immediately.

Harassment Over Nonexistent Account
Hammond Pole Attorneys continues to harass me with repeated collection demands for an account I have never opened. Despite my numerous requests that they cease contacting me and my refusal to provide personal information for a debt that is not mine, they persist in sending multiple collection emails daily. This conduct is unprofessional, harassing, and demonstrates a failure to properly verify the alleged debt before pursuing collections. I have made it clear that they may proceed with whatever further actions they threaten, as I do not have any overdue accounts with any institution. Their ongoing behavior is unacceptable and must stop immediately.

HP Attorneys – Repeated Requests for Personal Information Without Providing Lawful Authority (***)
I have received multiple emails from HP Attorneys between 29 April and 7 May 2026 regarding an alleged FNB credit card account (***). Each email, from different representatives, requested personal information such as ID number, date of birth, address and contact numbers, allegedly for POPIA compliance. Despite several written requests, HP Attorneys has not provided any of the documentation required to establish lawful authority or verify the existence of any enforceable claim. This includes: proof of mandate from FNB, the original credit agreement, a complete and itemised statement of account, the date of last payment or acknowledgment, and a POPIA‑compliant disclosure identifying the lawful basis for processing my personal information and the source from which it was obtained. In terms of sections 11–12 of the Protection of Personal Information Act, personal information may only be processed for a specific, lawful and explicitly defined purpose. No such purpose has been demonstrated. In addition, debts of this nature prescribe after three years in terms of section 10 read with section 11(d) of the Prescription Act 68 of 1969, and HP Attorneys has provided no evidence that prescription has been interrupted. I have formally instructed HP Attorneys to cease requesting personal information and to refrain from further collection activity until the required documentation is provided. I have also reserved all rights to refer the matter to the Information Regulator, National Credit Regulator and Legal Practice Council should the conduct continue.

Continued Harassment After Full & Final Settlement - HP Attorneys / FNB Account
I would like to lodge a formal complaint regarding ongoing emails I continue to receive from Michael Tshinukha at HP Attorneys concerning an alleged outstanding FNB debt. This matter was already settled in full through a Full and Final Settlement agreement with LWM Debt Recovery. Despite the account having been resolved, I am still being contacted and pressured for payment as if the debt remains outstanding. I find this conduct unacceptable and extremely concerning, especially after taking the necessary steps to settle the matter in good faith. Continued collection attempts on a settled account may amount to harassment and raises serious concerns regarding internal communication, record keeping, and compliance with debt collection regulations. I request the following urgently: • Immediate cessation of all collection emails and communication regarding this account. • Written confirmation that the account is settled and closed. • Confirmation that HP Attorneys and any related parties have updated their systems accordingly. • Assurance that no adverse action or listing will be pursued on a debt that has already been settled. Consumers should not be subjected to repeated collection attempts after complying with settlement agreements. I trust this matter will be addressed urgently!!!
