Why am I paying for service I did not get . A service that I clearly stated that I don't
Gym Company sales representatives in Durban, Mega City have showed very big desperation. They took my information without any explainations. I had told the representative clearly that I don't want to sign up for the gym . They took my information forcibly and I've recently discovered that I them large amount of money yet I've never been to it. When I went to cancel my membership they said I was about to get blacklisted and I should atleast pay an amount of R300 . I was not even provided with an access card. Why am I paying for service I did not get ?

Bad service
Very disappointing experience with this gym company. They keep debiting extra amounts from my account every month, and despite my attempts to cancel my membership, they make the process unnecessarily difficult. Their poor customer service and lack of transparency are unacceptable. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Customers deserve better!

PATHETIC ATTITUDE: Trevor Shroeder – Gym Company Westgate
I wish to formally raise a complaint regarding the unacceptable attitude and conduct of the manager, Trevor Shroeder, at Gym Company Westgate. On 17 September 2026 at approximately 15:30, I went to Gym Company Westgate specifically to request assistance from a manager, as my previous calls have repeatedly not been returned. I explained my matter to a staff member, who requested that Trevor Shroeder attend to me because he is the person fami**** with the information relating to my ***. Despite this, he refused to come and assist me, stating that he was still gyming. I then approached him personally and politely requested his assistance. I explained that I was in a rush because I had a meeting scheduled for 16:00. His response was that, unfortunately, he could not assist me because he was entitled to his one-hour lunch break. I find this response extremely disappointing and unprofessional, particularly because I had made the effort to come to the branch in person after my calls had repeatedly gone unanswered. If he was unavailable due to his lunch break, this could have been communicated respectfully, and arrangements could have been made for another manager or an appropriate staff member to assist me. I was also concerned by the apparent reluctance of the staff members to contact him for assistance. It appeared that they were uncomfortable or afraid to approach him, which raises further concerns about the manner in which the branch is being managed. I expect management to investigate this matter and provide me with a proper written response explaining why my request for assistance was refused and what steps will be taken to ensure that customers are treated respectfully and that complaints and ***-related queries are properly attended to. I also request that my outstanding *** matter be addressed urgently, as I have already made numerous attempts to resolve it without receiving the necessary assistance.

Gym Company Bad service- Join at your own RISK
I am extremely concerned about the continued deductions from my bank account regarding my daughters’ memberships. I cancelled memberships in February 2026. Despite the cancellation, an amount of R49 per month for each membership is still being deducted. I was previously advised by the manager not to completely cancel the memberships, which is why the R49 monthly fee was being charged, Cancel the fees asap. However, I did not authorise any further deductions beyond what was agreed. Yesterday, another amount was debited from my account without my authorisation, for membership cancelled in February. I therefore request that you refund the unauthorised. I am also concerned that I am being required to pay three months of debit orders upon cancellation, despite having signed up for a month-to-month membership. Please provide me with the contractual clause that authorises this charge and explain why I am being required to pay these additional amounts. I have repeatedly attempted to resolve these issues, but the continued deductions are unacceptable. This is my hard-earned money, and I expect any debit from my bank account to be properly authorised and supported by a valid agreement. At this stage, I deeply regret joining Gym Company because of the way this matter has been handled. I am requesting that this issue be resolved urgently, that the unauthorised debit be refunded, and that no further deductions be processed without my explicit authorisation. Please confirm in writing when the refund will be processed and provide me with the specific contractual clause in my signed membership agreement that states I am required to pay three months’ fees upon cancellation.

Platinum Member Treated Poorly - The Gym Company Jacaranda
am a platinum member at The Gym Company Jacaranda and my experience with the staff has been terrible. Equipment management is completely inconsistent. I have seen regular members allowed to occupy up to 3 machines at the same time, but as a platinum member I have to beg staff to open the cage that I have booked. I book my cage sessions properly through the system. If I book 2 sessions back-to-back after my work duties, a senior female staff member complains to the manager that I am "hogging" the cage, even though there are no rules stating how the cage can be used once booked. If it's booked, it should be usable. When I signed up, I was specifically told I would be able to do kickboxing training, which is beneficial for my line of work. Now I'm told they "couldn't get a trainer" for it. So I was sold a service that doesn't exist. The attitude from some staff, especially the lady in charge on the floor, is extremely unprofessional and rude. For a platinum membership, this is unacceptable. I would advise others to think twice before joining The Gym Company, especially Jacaranda. You pay premium but get treated poorly and your frustration just goes through the roof. *I will be cancelling my services and my bank debit orders as well. I am done with The Gym Company.*

Bad experience with Manager
Bad experience with Manager I waited almost 2 hours for the manager who said he was on break and will be back after 30 minutes since 4:15 until around 6:18 then they call him only to find out he tells us to come back tomorrow. Bottom line I had a terrible experience with this company in Thlabane square

GYM COMPANY WESTGATE: MONTHS OF CANCELLATION REQUESTS, CONTINUED PAYMENT DEMANDS AND STILL NO RESOLUTION
GYM COMPANY WESTGATE: MONTHS OF CANCELLATION REQUESTS, CONTINUED PAYMENT DEMANDS AND STILL NO RESOLUTION I am absolutely furious with Gym Company’s handling of my cancellation. Let me be clear: I HAVE NEVER USED THEIR GYM. This was not simply a membership I stopped using. From the outset, system problems involving my and my daughter’s memberships prevented me from accessing the apps, booking an induction and using the services I was paying for. My daughter attended once, without the induction or guidance she needed. I first requested cancellation in writing on 25 February 2026. I submitted completed cancellation forms on 27 March and resubmitted corrected documents on 28 May when requested. I cooperated. I followed up. I supp**** the forms and correspondence repeatedly. I was told the matter would be sorted out and understood it had been resolved. Yet I continued paying for approximately five to six months while trying to get confirmation. Instead of a resolution, I received payment demands from three different WhatsApp numbers and multiple email contacts, quoting amounts of R698, R798 and R1,047 and warning about my credit record. After all of that, I sent a detailed formal complaint TWICE, setting out the history and asking for proper intervention. Both replies simply directed me to another department for cancellations. HOW MANY TIMES MUST A CUSTOMER REQUEST THE SAME CANCELLATION? Referring me elsewhere does not answer the complaint. It does not explain the continued charges, address the system failures or resolve the repeated collection contact. After months of this, the contact feels like harassment. I should not have to coordinate Gym Company’s departments or explain the same documented history to every new employee who contacts me. I want a responsible person to take ownership: confirm cancellation of both memberships, investigate and correct the disputed charges, provide a complete account statement, address any incorrect credit reporting, and give me a substantive written response. I have retained the emails, cancellation forms and WhatsApp correspondence supporting this complaint. I am prepared to provide them through the appropriate consumer-complaint channels. Gym Company: stop passing me between departments and resolve the complaint. This level of customer service is unacceptable.
