users, do not use enhanced listings. see why....
We have been selling on Gumtree for years now and spend more than R50 000 annually on top ads(enhanced listings) on gumtree. Gumtree has policies against duplicate adverts, but it seems as if they do not enforce it. Seller: Decibel_Audio_&_Accessories has loads of items, of which many are repeats. Why is this allowed? If gumtree allows this, we would demand refunds for all top adverts as paid since our top ads bear no advantage if another company repeats adverts daily and has hundreds of duplicate adverts. In fact, they will get more response having more adverts whilst we will have only singular clicks/views on our adverts. In an marketing environment, it makes no sense whatsoever to even spend a cent more on gumtree. Rather do the same as those who gets away with ******... we have reported this user before, but they still do as they wish and gumtree allows it..<br> <br> Add a new Gumtree South Africa Report<br> <br>
Thank you for that information. I have looked into this user and taken action on a few of their ads that were duplicates.
Please know that we do not aim to overly police the site making it near impossible for users to post. I can understand that you may be frustrated by some of the actions or strategies of your competitors on the site. However, just because a user has made some violations in the past, does not mean that they get blocked. We do believe in giving people a second chance and with some users it may take a few mistakes for them to really get into compliance with our policies.
Please keep in mind that Gumtree aims to keep a friendly atmosphere and thus we like to give people a chance as opposed to running them off the site for making a couple of mistakes. That being said, repeated violations can lead to a site block. At this point, this user is not there yet. We are currently in the process of working with them to help explain how they can better post in compliance with our policies.
