********

I am a new mom to a beautiful baby girl. As most baby goods are very expensive, i turned to Gumtree to look for a pram and car seat combo set that i liked and could afford. I found one that i like - a quinny buzz set, and i got in touch with the seller. We agreed on an amount and i paid over the monies on 21/11/2017 - an early Christmas present to myself and my baby girl. They said i could send a courier once the money had cleared. I checked in on the 24th and they said the money had cleared and that i could send a courier. The courier later informed me that they have been sent to this address several times by other people who had been ****med by this 'Chloe'. They said this was not the first time abd that this was not a hime address. I realised i had been ****med and have since been unable to get the ******* to respond to my messages. I reported the ad to gumtree the evening of the 24th and the bank on the 25th. I have not heard anything from Gumtree. Nothing! Not a 'Sorry that we failed to really verify sellers on this site'. Not a 'thanks for using our site, let's see how we can compensate you' and not even a 'Sorry'. The 'verified' message next to the profile of the seller has nothing to do with actually verifying the seller!! Now it's a couple of weeks before Christmas and i have lost the monies through supporting a site like Gumtree. Mommies who are already overworked, tired and low on cash, who try to provide for their little ones by purchasing second hand goods, then get ****med because there is no protection on these sites who make millions through advertising. They take no responsibility and are not held accountable. This person has ****med more than 4 people that we know about from 1 courier company. How many more??? Why has the ad not been removed yet? Why is this person still allowed to carry on praying on new mothers. Why is nothing being done about it. I feel utterly despondent, this is something I so badly wanted for my baby. Why is a site like this supporting ********?

Why can a site like this not verify its sellers? Why can't it ask for ID and proof of residence or FICA information. I am shocked that in todays times we are still being ****** of our money when these practices could keep us safe. How can i ever use this site again. I also cannot recommend it to any of my fellow mommies - and why should I? What has been done to assist me after the fact? A site that i used to love, marred by an experience of this nature 3 weeks before Christmas. It's really not worth using a site like this.
