Inconsistent rule apllication, unfair treatment and horrific service from Gumtree South Africa.

My business is a provider of bulk diesel, I attempted to post an ad on gumtree like many others I know in the industry as they have said they have good responses from doing this.

However my ad was disallowed and was flagged for breaking the rules of the site. Shocked as I have seen ads and know businesses who advertise this very thing, I contacted the site through email for help. I mentioned my experience and asked for an explaination as why other ads, which I gave specific examples, offering the same thing have been allowed on the site.

I was emailed by Jason saying that my ad was disallowed as combustible materials is prohibited from the site, he did not provide an explanation for the other ads being allowed.I pointed out to him that I acknowledge him saying this is the reason but then are other businesses allowed to post ads like these, I sent screenshots of these ads as proof of these ads and in hopes of getting an explaination.

I recieved a response saying the forgot to mention he escalated it to the investigation team but could confirm both examples I provided where removed. That however was a lie as with a simple search of "bulk diesel" on the site showed that one was still active. The search further yielded more ads than I had orginally seen and one business was allowed to post multiple times.

It is very frustrating that I am having to fight for fair treatment on this site, I refuse to believe that my ad was flagged within hours yet more than multiople ads over the course of the last 10 months went under the radar and some were allowed to advertise twice. The fact that I brought up one of these ads and they still are being allowed to advertise is even more frustrating.

The assistance thus far has been poor and inconsistent enforcement of the rules is very troubling. I am posting this complaint to warn other businesseses of the inconsistent application of the rules and the blatanat unfairness you will face using Gumtree. I hope someone from the company can either ensure a fair site where the rules are enforced on everyone or can explain why my business has been treated differently than the competition
