Gumtree stop supporting backyard breeders!
I have contacted Gumtree directly in this regard, but am not satisfied with the responses I got. I was given a scripted response and links to the policies regarding posting of pets on gumtree. These policies were apparently drawn up with the help of the SPCA, yet there is no link to nor mention of the clear municipal bylaws prohibiting backyard breeding and selling of pets.<br> It should not be up to the handful of the public that is willing to sift through your ads to report the ******* ones, they should not be posted in the first place. On any given day you can go onto gumtree pets section and find at least 70% of the ads to be in contravention of gumtree's own existing policies. Add on the municipal bylaws and that goes up to 90%.<br> As much as I love gumtree and the useful platform it is, unfortunately it is also a very useful platform for ******* and irresponsible breeders. Making it difficult for them to post ads on your platform would go a long way in curbing this problem as people might start to think before they let their pets go unspayed/unneutered.

While we can understand your concern here, please try to understand that Gumtree is a community based platform, which means that we respond to any flags on ads coming from the community.
If there are any ads that you believe are in violation of our policies, or are in general suspicious to you, you can report them to us. On the right hand side of the ad there is the \Report this Ad\" feature
