Gosh! Worst experience on Gumtree ever today! I am exhausted from all the bs - I spent litereally ALL MORNING AND AFTERNOON going back & forth in emails with a Charmaine who is unhelpful. I reactivated two of my old (posted months ago) ads today and added an additional one advertising my vacant apartment. Instead of getting an activation email, I get an email telling me my ads are duplicates and discriminatory - did you see that I said TWO OF THESE ADS WERE REACTIVATED? I partly understood the duplication but the discriminatory issue is what makes absolute nonsense! Firstly my ads said nothing about race or religion, but Im told to remove the gender and age specification. What is the convenience of your site if I cannot indicate my specifications? How does that help me or the responder? I must remove the age specification but you dont even have a age category filter? Now I have to manage HUNDREDS of responses from a category of responders I have absolutely no interest in!

However, when it comes to room shares, we do exercise more leniency. If you are looking to find a room to share or someone to share a room with, we understand that you might prefer to share with someone of the same gender. We don't mind if in your ad you specify the gender of the person you want to share with.
