Cancellation that wouldn't be processed
Good day
My Dad signed a contract with this company a while ago and then used their services once. Later he decided that he does not want this anymore and wanted to cancel but could not locate their contacts and forgot the agency name (old age). He then cancelled the debit order which triggered them to call him to follow-up on outstanding payment. He requested that the contract be cancelled but up to today they refuse to cancel saying that he must pay the debt first before they can cancel. Is there such a contract where you are not allowed to cancel it until you pay-up?

We appreciate you bringing the above concerns to our attention and want to assure you that our aim is to handle all matters with fairness and integrity. According to Clause 17 of the agreement, the Principal Member is entitled to cancel in accordance with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act. As per the CPA, the consumer is required to provide written notice of cancellation and settle all fees due up to the date of cancellation. Additionally, the supplier has the right to charge a reasonable cancellation fee. Please note that cancellation of the debit order does not constitute a proper cancellation notice. Our agents have communicated that an arrear balance is due on the account. They have also taken steps to reduce the arrear balance, and GTA has foregone the reasonable cancellation fee to which it is entitled. Payment of the reduced amount would terminate the membership. We highly value the well-being of our members, particularly in situations where age or other challenging circumstances are a factor. Their well-being is of importance to us, and we are dedicated to accommodating their needs whenever possible. We regret any inconvenience and want to confirm that we are diligently following the appropriate procedures to resolve this matter.
Please feel free to contact the agent currently handling the case. If you require further assistance, their manager is available to carefully address your concerns.
Kind Regards
The Global Travel Team
