Terrible service, unprofessional and rude. *********
I took my Nissan Qashqai in for a service to Kuils rivier Nissan Monday 30 September 2024 for its 135000km service. I also reported a rattle sound at the gear leaver and a problem with the hooter (it sometimes hoots by itself if I turn the steering wheel sharply). The mechanic cleaned terminals at steering wheel/ hooter, did the service and assessed that I need a new engine cover as it was the cause of the rattle at the gear leaver. They quoted R7000 for the engine cover, but did not have stock so we decided I will have it replaced in the near future. On its return, the hooter was still unchanged and the clutch control was different from before the service (when I start driving it feels like 3rd gear when I am in 1st gear).
I booked the car in again on 8/10/24 to fix hooter and for them to see why the clutch is different. A lady phoned me at 3pm on the same afternoon to inform me that the rattle was indeed not the engine cover, but the clutch system and it needs to be replaced (R48 000). I explained that the clutch was 100% before the service one week earlier and I suspected that they possibly just adjusted the clutch in some way. She said it is impossible. On arrival at Nissan Kuilsrivier I was unhappy that the cause of the rattle was incorrectly identified one week earlier and I had almost replaced the engine cover and wasted R7000. I was also unhappy that one week earlier the clutch was fine and now the whole system needs to be replaced. This did not make sense to me. The lady at reception told me she would get a second opinion as the technician that worked on my car was not trustworthy and she would not trust him with her car!!!!! She also said that the workshop manager was off sick so there was no one to check up on the technicians. At this stage I had no trust in this branch and wanted a second opinion on the clutch before paying to have it replaced. The manager was rude and raised his voice when I tried to explain the situation. He offered to go for a ride with the car and "feel the clutch". On return he said the clutch is fine with only normal "wear and tear". and it does not need to be replaced. He said it is impossible that the clutch is different from one week before. He was not willing to consider that there might have been a oil spin or any reason for the change in feeling of the clutch. He also said that the technician did not check or open up to have a look at the clutch as this is too big of a job, so they made their assessment based on the job card. I told him I was unhappy that there was 3 different diagnostic opinions in one week and it is concerning that I could have paid R48000 for an unnecessary new clutch system, he rep**** "If you complained about a problem with the clutch and if we fixed it for R48000 why would you be unhappy?" I asked that he arranges a second opinion at another branch and he refused saying I should be thankful they helped me. He was irritated that I am unhappy as he "had mos now told me there is nothing wrong"
And on top of all, the hooter was now worse than ever after they worked on it. Hooting non stop to such an extent it had to be disconnected. They said parts need to be replaced and the quote for this is R4000.
When I left the receptionists came to me and took my cell phone number as she wanted to send me info on where to complain as she witnessed that I was treated unfairly and that the service was unacceptable.
