Why would WebAfrica invest in a company like this
Gridhost, no wonder WebAfrica let you go. I have dealt with the worst of service providing in South Africa, but this takes the cake. Don't know how you guys are still in business, don't even think your own staff retention is that great.
According to Gridhost, did I take out a domain registration on WebAfrica, which was subsequently logged through Gridhost. During the course of 2017, it would seem that WebAfrica let its ties with Gridhost go, leaving the company to fend for itself. Come December, I get debited for an amount of R400 bugs for hosting I did not remember taking out, for Gridhost, a company I have never heard of.
I contacted the support department, who would not patch me through to accounts and got told that I have to renew the domain. I told the consultant that I don't "have" to do anything and requested the domain to be cancelled. I logged off the phone call and forgot about it, as, with other providers, they log the cancellation into their CRM system and let the system do it's work.
Either Gridhost does not have a CRM in place, or the staff do no know what they doing, as 3 days later, I get debited again, with the same amount. I log a support ticket to get this all on record, and got told that the domain is still active and that I will be billed it again. I told the consultant that I moved banks and that the debit orders will not succeed as I have cancelled the account they had on record, and requested the domain to be cancelled.
We are now in January, and between the original phone call and now, I've been debited 5 times, got sent 2 invoices for bounced payment and zero, nothing, none, NO-ONE from this company acknowledging the cancellation request.
I have never seen anything like this in a company in South Africa, it is like they only care about "*****ing" money from "stupid" subscribers, and caring nothing about actually supplying a service.
If you are reading this, and considering going through them, I highly recommend you turn your attention to Afrihost or the likes, Gridhost has no service delivery, they don't respond to your calls in due manner and never, ever responds to support tickets unless they will make some money out of you.
Good morning Eric.
Sorry to hear about your latest experience with us. I had a look at the account on Web Africa's system and saw that there was an interaction between the customer and a consultant on the 4th January 2017 regarding a cancellation of a .Net hosting package because the customer required full trust which Web Africa does not offer. The service was cancelled but the domain itself was requested to remain active. The invoice that was generated on our system is for that domain that was kept active. An email was sent in December regarding the renewal of your domain and stated that if the customer wishes to manage the domain then they can log into their customer zone. This is to enabled/disable the auto renewal function. This was sent to your @live email address entered here on Hello Peter.
You mentioned that you haven't signed up for this service. We can understand that others might just signup using someone's contact details but there were banking details included as well. Banking details that only a customer would be able to give us or add to their account themselves. This is something that would need to be investigated but for now, we sent a request to our billing team to make contact with using the details you left here.
Regards
