Setting the standard for pathetic

In December last year I resigned from the SAPS and after devoting 2/3's of my life protecting and serving my country, I was hoping to finally sit back and enjoy the fruits of my labour comfortable in the knowledge that my pension should be easily available after retirement. I could not have received a more rude awakening when I tried to access it. After calling in, an agent first tells me to submit a proof of address, then after emailing the GPAA, another person advises me the docs needed to be resubmited as they require a stamped ID. I take full responsibility for this, however I was told that according to their rules and laws, it takes 60 days for the case to be finalised after receiving the correct documents. The 60 days elapsed on July 11th and yet im no closer to finding out the progress. Today, July 21st, I drove to their offices hoping for feedback, only to be told I need to pay SARS a R190.06 which further raised my ire. Whats really disappointing is that communication is really bad, I am the one who has to do all the follow ups and each time something new is needed from me.

During my experience with the GPAA, I have come to learn that all the people I interated with, do not take their job serious. The calibre of their employees makes me believe the only requirement for a job at the GPAA is utter incompetence. I am no closer to finding out how far they are with the process than the day I resigned. I have gone 8 months without an income and my bills keep accumulating and these people are effectively showing me the middle finger. Being a policeman, i have fought hardened *********, but that pales in comparison to the GPAA. Its a real pity, being in the civil service I had no option but to invest with them, I can only offer my sincerest sympathies to those who have invested with them, you are in for a nightmare, these people's sole mandate is to make you stress whilst earning a salary for showing absolute disdain for your plight.
