Is there any government department really that has empathy
This is my seventh month with no source of income. I ran up and down to the GEPF offices in Durban with no success. I have written to the ombudsman ,completed a complaints form, received a response from the ombudsman stating that have received my complaint and will be dealing with it. Still no response to date from either party. I checked on the GEPF offial selfservice website and the status of my claim is still the same as it was three months ago. When asked about how do I feed my family or pay accounts .....all I get is I am sorry. Sorry does not pay my accounts, buy food or keep a roof over my head. When you speak to the department telephonically I get the same response. It is like the GEPF staff are programmed to say I am sorry we will escalade the querry and that is it until you make another querry about your previous querry. I am at my wits end and don't know who or where to turn to to sort this issue out, but in the interim my medical aid has suspended my membership so I cannot get my chronic meds or visit my GP. I have to borrow monies to put food on my table and pay for utilities like water and lights. To date I am owing over R150 000 in debt after the creditor charge interest on interest I will be over R200 000 in debt. Thank you GEPF for ****ing up my life.
