Incapable of helping their clients
I contacted the GEPF on the 8th September 2017 at approximately 13:15, to find out information about my pension fund. The call taker refused to help me because I could not provide them with my pension number. I informed them that I could provide all other details for them to perform a security check, but they demanded that they would not proceed without my pension number. Without warning or reasons why, they hung up the phone on me after I was on the phone with them for not even 2 minutes.
This type of service is typical of SA government service, where they cannot think outside the box and have a system where they then ask other security questions to verify the person. All other services seem to have multiple questions that can be asked, but no, not the SA gvt. And the rude behavior that goes with it is really unnecessary. What happened to being a public servant?
