GEPF does Not care

The pathetic conduct of the GEPF is contrary to their mandate to render sufficient service to their pensioners and beneficiaries. I have been sending emails, calling the call centre and visiting the GEPF head office in Pretoria many times over my mother's spousal benefit claim. Looking for answers from a government entity should not be this difficult. I have lodged numerous complaints to the office regarding GEPF handling of my mother's Spousal Benefit claim to no avail. It has been over 8 months since the application for the claim was instituted with the GEPF Bhisho office. My mother gave me consent in the form of an affidavit to enquire about this claim on her behalf partly because of her health condition. As I am writing this review, we do not have a clear status regarding this claim, there was no sms acknowledging receipt of said claim . On 07/22/2020 I went again to the GEPF head office in Pretoria to get some clarity with regard to this case. After I spoke to a consultant I was made aware for the first time that the documents for this claim were apparently lost/missing. This is unacceptable to us as a family especially after the loss of our father whom my mother depended on as a provider. I made numerous enquiries after this visit to no avail, taking steps to try and find out what the recourse was and when this claim can be finalised and subsequently be paid-out. There is no effective communication from this office at all regarding this claim's status since the submission of the claim which was in November 2019, instead I have been sending emails even before COVID19 (including calling the call centre) with ineffectual results. Up until this point no one from this office has given us any satisfactory (if any) information. The handling of this claim by GEPF leaves much to be desired about this organisation, we are left using resources we do not have to deal with this matter. The side story to this is that my mother is fighting the bank not to take her property because she can no longer afford to pay a house loan they took when my father was alive. All I'm asking for is the status of this claim.
