Distraught and helpless
21 October 2025 I submitted the necessary documents for a divorce decree to the GEPF's office in Cape Town. 29/10/2025 it was received by their offices in Pretoria. 9 November 2025 it was received by their Legal Department. According to their Service Level agreement, the funds should be paid within 60 days. It is now 4 months and I have been phoning almost every week holding on for more than 3 hours just to be cut off. If the clock strike 16h00 then they cut the call no matter how long you have been holding on. Just for you to repeat the same thing the next day...... I'm in the process of purchasing a house, was forced to apply for a personal loan of R100k (which is non refundable) to secure the place. I have written to the ombudsman and the GEPF and forwarded all the supporting documents and received no feedback. It's like no one cares. The developers have planned to hand the house over to me by April 2026. So before this happens I have to apply for home loan for the difference. I am at my wits end and it seems like no one cares. It is really sad to see how people are treated and once again one of the government departments are failing at executing what they are supposed to do, .... ***/***5
