Is Gosolr ready for Durban?

So far, not so good. Signed the contract 2 weeks ago. Received a call on Friday to inform me that eThekwini Municipality does not allow the large package - which is a bit of worry as my spend on electricity is almost R5000pm. The consultant also advised that they could get someone to do a pre-inspection before installation...and then realised that I already requested this.

No solar but I did receive an email today asking me if I am enjoying the service and advising of an annual increase in July....even before I have the solar! Please remember this when signing up.

After my sister raved about their service in JHB I am worried that Gosolr is nowhere near ready to get into KZN let alone Durban.

I am glad that Gosolr has managed to get the "Large" system approved in Durban. It must be noted that I did call the Ethekwini Representative to gain clarity on this matter and directed your team to make contact with the said individual who provided the approval. As to whether your team was on this case before I made contact, is questionable.

I am appreciative to have made contact with Tasneem who was very helpful and appeared more appraised of the situation...ultimately resolving the issue. There is much improvement that Gosolr must look at. I subsequently received the confirmation of installation from their installer. The letter still stated that they could not install the large system and asked me to confirm if I wanted a presite visit (which I requested twice already) via Gosolr.

I have a tentative install date of 7 March and will provide updates.

Update.....still no news from Tasneem and her team. Followed up with Gosolr and was told that I had app**** for a medium package (which I didn't). Still no presite inspection scheduled. Still the wrong system on record for installation. Be prepared for administrative challenges with GoSolr.

Further update: it is really difficult dealing with a company that could get so much wrong administratively and I have decided to cancel the contract. Gosolr seamed to be unphased as the person who did the cancelleation did so without asking any questions.

GoSolr has breeched several clauses in the CPA:
1. the lead time for installation is grossly understated. Installation can take more than 4 weeks after installation.
2. They advertised that they are in Durban and advertsised a large system in Durban. They took a payment for the large system and then notified me that the large system was not allowed in Durban by the municipality. Whilst this was changed midway though my application - partly due to the president announcing a state of disastor for energy, this company was extremely slow in fixing this and instead still pursued the medium installation.
3. After cancelling the contract - as they have not been able to deliver to date, the company has not refunded me - and given that this is their fault, the CPA stipulates that the Service provider must pay interest.
4. The person handling the case has gone on leave. There appears to be nobody who can replace her and take things forward.

This is rapidly ballooning into a legal battle.
