Consistently bad service - stay away
This company has been consistently offering poor service since I signed up in January 2023 1. Check you contract very carefully. The company has not sent me the full schedule of what was installed 2. The contract had track changes on it. When asked to send me a document without it, they said they couldn't change the contract. 3. They did not perform a requested pre-installation inspection and then attempted pass a bill to me which was rejected. 4. They pitched up on site with a team of people - techs inside to install cabling and the db and staff outside to install the panel. At lunch the external tram disappeared to another site. The team inside had to complete installation on the roof. 5. I had to remind the team give me access to the solarman app 6. A Sub DB burnt within a year. It melted with smoke in the house. It took 4 hours for Gosolr to notify the technician of the fault. 7. They fixed the problem but took months to replace the cracked db cover 8. A year on, the annual maintenance happened without the cleaning of the panels due to weather. The technicians "we will come back" became months of reminders and eventually 3 to 4 months later undertaken. 9. The reminders involved sending a message to them via email. On submission you had a ticket saying that someone would call you to help. After a few days with Nobody calling you, you receive a message that they have not heard a response from YOU and will close the ticket. 10. After escalation they apologised (on coincidently the day that their technician finally arrived to clean the panels) and underook to do a quality check on the system at their cost to ensure that the system was efficient. (Why wasn't this done at the onset) 11. The coincidental tech visit to clean the panels revealed that 1 of the panels was cracked. Gosolr asked for me to claim for the panel from my insurance. 12. I asked for a production report to identify when this panel was cracked. The team presented the report and confirmed in numerous emails that the system had not had a reduction in production and indicated that the crack in the panel was superficial and did not impact production. They again insisted that I pay for the panel using my insurance. 13. The tech team came out again to fix the errors/improvements picked up during the QC. When on site, I asked them to check the panel. They asked me to go onto the roof to see the panel which was completely shattered. 14. Despite this, Gosolr still maintained that production was consistent through the life of the install and that I pay for the panel through insurance. 15. At this juncture, I deduced that the panel had to broken when the unit went live. I asked for pictures of the panel immediately after installation. They sent me pictures of another home before sending me picture of the panels that don't show the panel close up. (Consumers are urged to inspect the panels themselves as the company can't be trusted) 16. Gosolr agreed to replace thebpanel at their cost. I did accept this but asked to evaluate the loss of power generated as I paid a full fee to them whilst paid for grid tied power. 17. Their tech came out to replace the panel and advised that he could not replace it as the panel was not the same size as the other 13 panels or the broken 14th. He also advised that the power outputs were lower than the original. After he discussed this with his office, he left without installing the panel. 18. Gosolr then opted to replace all of my panels with new panels (all of the new spec and with lower output) I rejected this as it limited the ability to adequately evaluate the power lost as a result of broken panel. 19. Having gone through this for over 18 months, I decided to cancel the contract. 20. Gosolr then issued a R26k bill to deinstall the system. After arguing their bill, they offered a 25% discount off this fee....still being unable to quantify the loss of power with 1 broken panel for the life of the install. This still remains rejected whilst I continue to pay their monthly fees for an underperforming system. 21. During the process, I asked about the registration of the system with the municipality by law. Suddenly, 1,5 years later, the municipality is coming today to inspect the system. Incidentally, a professional engineer signed off the system in June 2024 (despite the application being submitted in 2023). I have asked for documents to prove that the person came to site...and have not been presented with the same to date.
This has been an extremely frustrating company to deal with. They have a great concept but have not set up adequate mechanisms to hear and deal with customers. They have consistently delivered poor service. I suggest that you get an attorney to read your contract before signing up.
I took up a large system for my home to decrease grid tied power consumption and Not just get past load shedding. The system has definately been useful getting past load shedding however I feel ****** as a client as I have been paying consistently for 14 panels but have only enjoyed the benefit of 13 panels of production. This company has not been able to deliver, leading to me being forced to cancel. I believe that I am being prejudiced by being forced to pay a fee without taking into consideration losses of power generation and the waste of my time to make myself available for their installs, failed replacements, quality controls and their own incompetence. Their lack of ownership and denial of the problem is alarming. Stay away from this company if you can. The concept that they offer is excellent. The service is extremely poor.
Sincerely,

Gosolr' response to me in writing after the visit was to explain that their job at such at municipal inspections was to observe and not interfere with the system during the visit. Had the writer actually done his homework before responding, he would have realised that the municipality needed to inspect the system and look at wiring...to verify that wiring was in accordance with their circuit diagrams. That gosolr attempted to justify sending a junior without tools to a visit speaks volumes. They don't acknowledge mistakes and want to justify their actions. The writer even goes on to explain why I shouldnt be concerned about the municipality's findings as their system is still safe. So essentially, I have to accept that their word and have a system that has not been approved by thr municipality? This has however been the consistent approach of Gosolr.
The writer further went on to clarify their stance on my broken panel (in response to this complaint, I presume). In their written communication, he has indicated that the system is generating the power that it ought to according to the data that they have at their disposal. What he didn't realise (as he he didnt do his homework) is that their technician disconnected the broken panel, when he came to replace it but didnt. He also maintains that they are still open to replacing all 14 of 470w panels with 14 new 460w panels as the 470w panels are no longer in stock. He does not speak of how they intend to compensate for the lost power over the 21 month contract period or the lost power with the net 140W reduction in power that will arise through the proposed replacement panels.
I am investigating the conduct of the professional engineer. He signed off my system in June 2024 whilst 1 of the panels was cracked. His sign off is therefore highly questionable.
