Godaddy double charged me and refuse to refund

My recent experience with GoDaddy was deeply frustrating and disappointing. I was quoted R113.85 via email to renew my .co.za domain, only to be charged R224.40 instead — nearly double the quoted amount.

From the start, I made it clear this was a single domain renewal with no extras. Despite this, I was bounced between multiple agents over the course of an entire day with no resolution. Each agent gave a different explanation:

Some blamed a registry price hike.

Others claimed I paid in USD (despite using the same renewal link in the GoDaddy email as in previous years).

One agent falsely stated my domain had been renewed twice.

Another told me the domain couldn’t be refunded or canceled due to TLD restrictions.

The final verdict? No refund. No compensation. Just a vague excuse that the system somehow processed my payment in a different currency, even though I followed the standard email link — the same one I’ve always used in the past years.

GoDaddy’s inconsistent answers, refusal to take responsibility, and lack of transparency have left me feeling misled and overcharged. To top it off, their representatives admitted they couldn't do anything more and simply turned off auto-renewal as a “resolution.”

If you value honesty, consistency, and support that actually resolves billing issues, I suggest you look elsewhere. I will be sharing this experience across consumer platforms and won’t be renewing any services with GoDaddy again.
