Dear Sir

I was an Altech AutoPage Customer with several devices under contract with CellC and Vodacom. When Altech transferred their business directly to Vodacom and the CellC contracts to Glocell, on the 1st June and 1st July exhorbitantly high data and SMS charges were charged for both the CellC and Vodacom devices. I lodged an enquiry of ***** both with Vodacom and Glocell.

Following a lengthly investigation, Vodacom have credited me with R6,643.46 in August under the guise of a "once off gesture of goodwill" and were unwilling to admit to any ***** taking place. However, they credited me nonetheless. On the other hand, Glocell has threatened to "hand me over" for non payment of some R9,203,06 of data and SMS usage which I have indicated to them is *****elent usage.

To explain, my 92 year old father (who has mild dementia) used the CellC phone and in 2015 he dropped it in water and put it in the microwave to dry. (This event can be verified by his neighbour and the General Manager at his retirement village.) This action naturally destoyed both the handset and SIM and melted the circuitary, rendering the phone unusable.

As I was reluctant to get him another device, the phone was not replaced and that account was dormant until 2016 when suddenly extremely high data and SMS usage occurred in May and June, right about the time when Altech closed shop and transferred the contracts. I should mention that this is a Control Chat account which again makes one question how such an account could rack up thousands in data and SMS usage. While with AutoPage I was paying the base Control Chat fee for this device.

For the past few months I have been raising queries with Glocell to ascertain which sites were accessed for this high data usage and which numbers were SMSed and to date I have not received the information requested.

Yesterday 2/9/2016, the credit controller Charlotte called so advise that I needed to pay the account by Monday 5th failing which they will hand me over. I have told her that I was recording our conversation (as Glocell do when you call them) and have a voice clip of our conversation. I asked her not to hand me over or do anything that would damage my clean credit rating since, in this case, it's ********** usage and I was not prepared to pay for that. She undertook to send me a usage report by Monday 5th so that I can scrutinise the details. I am certainly interested in which numbers were SMSed and if I don't have any personal or business dealings with those numbers, it will prove my claim of *****.

What do I need to do to get Glocell to take my assertions seriously and investigate what clearly seems to be a case of internal ***** being perpetrated either at their offices or CellC's offices? I firmly believe that the SIM details were cloned by someone working either at Glocell or CellC and they are racking up this data and SMS usage. When one calls the CellC number ********** 111, it does not ring but the call cuts out immediately which again is an indication that something untoward has happened with that number.

I would like one of Glocell's Executives to contact me please to discuss and resolve this matter. It is not ethical to hound me for what is clearly ********** charges given that the device and SIM was destroyed in 2015 already.

This phone has been dubbed The Lazarus Phone, given that it has apparently risen up from the dead!

I look forward to hearing from the relevant Executive next week.

Yours sincerely

MMH
