Harassment Is Not Negotiation — GL Attorneys, Do Better

I was contacted by a representative from GL Attorneys. For context — they have contacted me repeatedly, daily and weekly, despite the fact that I have an existing payment arrangement that I service every month without fail.

During today’s call, the representative was extremely rude and threatening, and addressed me on a first-name basis in an unprofessional manner. When I asked her to confirm who the debt is owed to — GL Attorneys or the original financial institution — she confirmed the creditor is not GL Attorneys. Therefore, I advised her that due to her behaviour and the tone in which she spoke to me, I will be corresponding directly with the financial institution going forward.

The ongoing harassment, including the use of personal mobile numbers after I have blocked previous numbers, is unacceptable. This behaviour is unprofessional, intimidating and completely inappropriate. Rudeness and threats will not influence or alter anything — the standing arrangement is in place, and it continues to be honoured by me as agreed.

GL Attorneys — your conduct in this matter is unacceptable and reflects poorly on your organisation. It appears that your staff require training on how to engage with people professionally.
