Mushrooms (not clients) should be kept in the dark

I left my previous employer at the end of March, and had to complete all required documents for my provident fund to pay out BEFORE I left the company. I have been trying to find out when I will receive the money, but I simply get vague answers. I suspect someone dropped the ball, and asked them when they received my documents from my former employer, but I don't get any response on that question either. I am asking these questions, because I need to also plan my finances. Keeping the "client"in the dark is much more annoying than telling them what went wrong, and giving me a realistic estimated settlement date.
